The Flavor Asymmetry in the Polarized Proton Sea
نویسنده
چکیده
We perform a careful study on the effect of the Pauli blocking to the light polarized antiquark structure of the proton sea. We develop the formal expressions for the polarized antiquark distributions, highlighting the role played by quark statistics and the vacuum structure. The ratio involving the polarized antiquarks is calculated. In particular, it is found that ∆d(x)/∆u(x) should be negative and x independent.

Polarized Parton Distributions and the Polarized Gluon Asymmetry
The flavor-dependent valence, sea quark and antiquark spin distributions can be determined separately from theoretical assumptions and experimental data. We have determined the valence distributions using the Bjorken sum rule and have extracted polarized sea distributions, assuming that the quarks and anti-quarks for each flavor are symmetric. Other experiments have been proposed which will all...
متن کاملReconstructed Weak Bosons in p - p Collisions at 3 √ s = 500 − 510 GeV at RHIC
We present the status and preliminary results of the analysis of kinematically fully reconstructed weak bosons at the STAR experiment. The transverse single-spin asymmetry (AN) has been measured in transversely polarized proton-proton collisions at √ s = 500 GeV, with a recorded integrated luminosity of 25 pb−1. The measured observable is sensitive to the non-universality of the Sivers function...
متن کاملFlavor asymmetry in the light-quark sea of the nucleon.
A phenomenological ansatz for the flavor–asymmetry of the light sea distributions of the nucleon, based on the Pauli exclusion principle, is proposed. This ansatz is compatible with the measured flavor–asymmetry of the unpolarized sea distributions, d̄ > ū, of the nucleon. A prediction for the corresponding polarized flavor–asymmetry is presented and shown to agree with predictions of (chiral qu...

متن کاملProton-deuteron asymmetry in Drell-Yan processes and polarized light-antiquark distributions
We discuss the relation between the ratio of the proton-deuteron (pd) Drell-Yan cross section to the proton-proton (pp) one ∆(T )σpd/2∆(T )σpp and the flavor asymmetry in polarized light-antiquark distributions. Using a recent formalism of the polarized pd Drell-Yan process, we show that the difference between the pp and pd cross sections is valuable for finding not only the flavor asymmetry in...
